Valentine's and the True Meaning of Love

  • 2022-02-02

January sure zipped past! And here we are, already in February, the month of love.

While this celebration is traditionally of the romantic kind, we feel all love is worthy of a notable day. The love you feel for your partner, your friends and family, your children, your planet, your pets….

Specifically, we’re on the end of celebrating children, and a certain cat that brings them a lot of joy.

So saying, we’re doing two things this month to give some of the love we feel back:

  1. We’re offering an online special for you this month – A R15 discount on every book you buy direct from us online. We hope you all heart this! Maybe stock up on kid’s friend’s birthday gifts for the year?
  2. We’re also making a donation to The Animal Welfare Society Port Elizabeth, which does the most amazing work rescuing animals. Unfortunately, Covid has had a huge impact on institutions like this that rely on charity funding alone. People are struggling. They are surrendering their pets. And Animal Welfare PE is overrun. All of us at The Fuzz-Fuzz are incredibly passionate about supporting worthy causes, and our hearts lie firmly with the less fortunate furry friends. Our ginger feline feels sad for them too, so he decided we needed to make a loving monetary contribution towards Bravecto and new kennels for the animals.

If you’d like to show some love to a charity of your choice this month too, involve your child and let them feel what it’s like to give back. It’s a tough life lesson learning that not everyone or everything is comfortable, safe, and secure. Getting them involved in a positive / pawsitive way is a gentle introduction and helps them understand that tough situations don’t need to make them feel helpless. In the words of the legendary Mr Rogers:

“When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, ‘Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.’”

So, if this is something you’d like to do, we have a suggestion:

Print out The Fuzz-Fuzz, let your little colour him in, and either pop on down to your local shelter / nearby charity and take a pic of your little person and The Fuzz-Fuzz handing over their contribution, be it food, blankets, whatever. Upload the photo to our Facebook page, and tell us what loving act your child has done to make the world a better place! Don’t forget to tell us their name, age, where you live, and what charity you’re supporting. Use the hashtags: #TheFuzzFuzzMadeMeDoIt and “Wheresthefuzzfuzz  (If colouring isn’t their thing, there’s a full colour version of The Fuzz-Fuzz ready to be printed out!)And you already know that we think together time reading a book with your child, is a marvelous way of showing them you love them!

We hope you and your family have a great February.

See you in March!

Keep reading! Keep imagining!
